We are excited to announce the first ever Zouk event in New Zealand held over the Christmas holidays! ZoukTREAT is here for 2021! 🎄

ZoukTREAT will be hosting a Zouk retreat at the end of the year at Hanmer Springs. Treat yourself with yummy Zouk workshops, stretch classes, delicious meals, socials, pampering hot pool visits, and an EPIC New Years Zouk Party! ✨

📍 All classes and socials / parties will be held at Hanmer Memorial Hall, 1 Jollies Pass Road.

🍳 Breakfast and lunch will be provided everyday at the venue. Vegan / dairy free / gluten free options available on request. The cost of breakfast and lunch for the 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st is already included in your pass! 🍳

We will start with a welcome dinner and warm-up party on Monday the 27th of December - so you get to keep Christmas and Boxing Day with the family.

We will have 5 hours a day of Zouk classes as well as 1 hour of extra complimentary classes on the 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st with:

The classes will follow a bootcamp-style system starting from the beginning with a detailed history of Zouk and other dances from Brazil. Starting from scratch, going very deep into details exploring the fundamentals to more advanced techniques and musicality. It will be an amazing opportunity for beginners to start a quality Zouk journey, but also be perfect for more experienced dancers to refine their technique and develop a deeper connection and understanding of how Zouk works.

As well as classes, we will have many opportunities to dance and socialise. We will have a welcome party, two easy-going socials, an epic New Years Eve Party and a group trip to Hanmer Hot Pools to let your body relax and recover.

After a big sleep in to recover from our EPIC NYE PARTY, we will have an optional-extra teachers course where we will prepare people to teach, lead a relevant and fun class, talk about didactics and the art of teaching and how to grow a community. This teachers course will be open to all who is already teaching, is wanting to teach, or is just curious about how teaching and building dance communities work. This teachers course will run from 12.30pm - 7pm on the 1st of January with a break in-between, and a dinner provided afterwards. 👩🏻‍🏫

We can recommend several different accommodation options for different budgets and within walking distance to Memorial Hall listed below. Getting a group together to rent a holiday home is a cost-effective way to keep accommodation costs down. We do, however, recommend you book as far in advance as possible as the event is during the Christmas break and will start to book up soon.

Do note the retreat will be limited to 30 leads and 30 follows to keep numbers intimate, yet energetic.

The cost of the group trip to Hanmer Pools is additional and selectable in the sign up form.

For those who are flying into Christchurch and are requiring transport between Christchurch and Hanmer, we are going to organise car pooling for everybody. Please let us know in the sign up form if you require transport or have spare seats in your car that you can offer for others.

There is also public buses running between Christchurch and Hanmer by Intercity, but at certain times of the day that don’t work well for the retreat. (https://www.intercity.co.nz/south-island-buses/bus-christchurch-to-hanmer-springs)

If we have more people requiring transport than we have offered, we also have the option of hiring a bus. This option, however, will only be confirmed closer to the date, once we know numbers. Prices are also to be confirmed. Please register your interest when completing the sign up form.
